Part-Time Floating Trash Valet Porter – Evenings Only – Salt Lake City

WSI Trash & Recycling Valet•Salt Lake City, UT
•Onsite

About The Position

WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is hiring a part-time Floating Trash and Recycling Porter to support apartment communities in the Downtown Salt Lake City area. The role has a guaranteed Monday evening shift, with additional coverage shifts available when part-time team members take time off or call out. This is not an on-call position; availability beyond Mondays increases the hours available. Shifts begin after 6:00 PM and typically last 1–3 hours. Weekends are not required, and most shifts finish in under three hours. The position involves working independently and may suit someone fitting work around another job, school, or family commitments. Reliable floaters who perform well receive first consideration when permanent, regularly scheduled routes become available. Each shift involves collecting residents’ bagged trash, recycling, and cardboard from apartment doors and transporting it to onsite dumpsters, chutes, or compactors. The porter separates recycling, checks for contamination, uses a mobile app to check in and out, documents routes with photos, leaves courtesy notices when needed, and cleans loose bagged trash near dumpsters and in common areas. Training is provided, and prior experience is not required. Pay is $18 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate for travel from the main office or storage location to work sites. A higher pay rate applies at sites that require use of a personal open-bed pickup truck. The work requires extensive walking, sometimes using stairs, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Founded in Utah in 2010, WSI is a family-owned, majority women-operated company serving apartment communities across Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. WSI describes its porters as the backbone of its work and is an equal opportunity employer. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and qualified candidates are contacted as positions open.
