About The Position

Mercantile Bank is hiring a full-time Float Teller based out of its Lowell branch, with coverage responsibilities across the Lowell, Ionia, and Belding markets. The role is onsite and requires travel to support other branches in the area. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Float Teller prepares their station, logs into systems, and reviews branch updates. They greet customers in person and by phone, process transactions accurately, and remain alert to potential fraud. The role also involves identifying customer needs, making appropriate referrals, promoting self-service options, supporting concierge/Live ATM services when applicable, and helping customers set appointments. The teller coordinates with teammates, completes required training, follows applicable laws and bank policies, and balances their cash drawer at the end of the day.

Requirements

Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
Accurate cash-handling and data-entry/typing skills.
Ability to prioritize and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
Personal mobile device required for system sign-in and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing according to established procedures.
Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily.
Use 360 View to identify customer needs, pursue cross-sell opportunities, and make appropriate referrals.
Promote self-service options, support concierge/Live ATM services when applicable, and assist with appointment setting.
Watch for fraud indicators and educate customers as needed.
Complete required training on time and follow laws, regulations, and bank policies.
Prepare the teller station, log into systems, review branch updates, and help keep daily branch tasks on track.
Travel to support other branches in the area.
Help ensure the branch is ready for the next business day.
