About The Position

Join Citi's Fixed Income Algo Technology team in North America to advance internal market-making and algorithmic trading capabilities for the Spread Product algo trading business. This experienced software engineering role contributes to Citi's large algorithmic trading platform, creating next-generation products that directly affect clients and business outcomes. The role involves close collaboration with traders, quants, product managers, eTrading teams, and production support to address complex business and technology challenges.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of hands-on coding experience in core Java, C++, or Rust, specializing in low-latency, high-throughput distributed applications.
• Strong understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, design patterns, object-oriented programming, and algorithm complexity analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with messaging technologies such as Solace or Kafka.
• Practical experience with Chronicle and/or Aeron.
• Experience with distributed caching techniques.
• Experience implementing and supporting market data processing and trading applications.
• Experience building back-testing frameworks and managing historical data storage.
• Basic proficiency in Linux performance tuning and monitoring, including troubleshooting performance issues in the Java/Linux stack.
• Familiarity with build tools including Gradle, Git, TeamCity, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business users.
• Self-motivation and determination to achieve goals and drive projects to completion.
• Willingness to continuously learn and grow technically and professionally.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed global team.
• Ability to perform and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of core algorithmic components.
• Collaborate with eTrading teams and production support to maintain and enhance live trading systems.
