About The Position

This position is located at Fort Bliss DFMWR. The Fitness Facility Manager oversees daily fitness center operations, manages staff schedules, sets performance goals, and ensures work is completed on time. This role helps plan budgets and staffing needs while maximizing facility use for programs and individuals fitness. The manager monitors contract, MOA, and GPR requirements to approve payments and ensures all operating procedures are followed and services meet standards. They evaluate facility needs and help design upgrades or new fitness spaces, working with DPW and contractors to ensure projects meet Army standards. The position involves preparing reports, updating SOPs, and supporting marketing for programs and events, including promoting fitness programs through articles, flyers, and marketing materials. The manager gives tours to VIPs and assists with required MWR and DoD reports to ensure compliance with standards and expectations. Additionally, they track equipment condition, maintain inventory, and schedule repairs or replacements, working with staff to recommend new equipment and ensuring patrons use equipment safely and correctly.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Must be willing and able to work 8:00am to 5:00pm, with flexibility on weekends and holidays depending on operational needs and specific events.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED, and Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
  • Must complete the following course(s)/class: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service, and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).

  • Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
  • Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.
  • Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities.
  • The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
