About The Position

Join our team as a Fiscal Specialist 1 within the Finance, Technology, and Analytics Administration (FTAA). In this role, you will support the Consolidated Business Services (CBS3) Fiscal Analyst 2 and Fiscal Analyst 5 by administering, processing, and maintaining accurate records for Local Funds. Your work will include cashiering duties, daily reconciliations and audits, calculating Resident Vocational Pay, ordering cash, generating checks, and preparing deposits. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the proper use of Local Funds, assisting managers, supervisors, and employees, and responding to staff and resident inquiries. You will also provide backup and support for the FA2 position, helping maintain smooth and accurate fiscal operations.

Requirements

  • Three years of fiscal record-keeping experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling three or more years.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices and ability to apply practical accounting techniques accurately
  • Strong analytical skills to assess issues, evaluate options, and draw clear conclusions
  • Ability to process large quantities of fiscal data efficiently and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, 10-key calculators, and ability to learn specialized systems such as Financial Local Funds System, and Leave Tracker
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, reliability, and good work attendance while modeling professional and socially responsible behavior
  • Ability to optimize resources to support organizational goals
  • Employees driving on state business must have a valid driver's license.
  • Employees driving a privately owned vehicle on state business must have liability insurance on the privately owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cashiering duties, disburse cash, verify receipts and returned transactions, and manage Local Funds, Patient Trust, Welfare, Petty Cash, and Miscellaneous Fund accounts
  • Prepare bank cash orders, generate checks, record deposits, and maintain Local Funds Purchasing Cards schedules and issuance
  • Process and calculate Semi-Monthly Resident Vocational Pay
  • Conduct daily check ins with mail room, process and record deposits, request to transfer funds, and reply to other communication with the Local Funds office.
  • Reconcile cash drawers and cash boxes daily, and Food Program cash box at least monthly
  • Provide technical assistance to managers, supervisors, and employees on local funds usage and respond to staff inquiries regarding client balances or financial statements
  • Back up the FA2 position and perform other duties as assigned
