About The Position

Come join our Leased Facilities and Maintenance Operations team as a Maintenance Mechanic 2. You’ll support the Finance, Technology & Analytics Administration (FTAA) mission by helping ensure safe, functional, and efficient work environments across more than 100 leased office facilities and six statewide institutions. In this role, you’ll perform office moves, space reconfigurations, workspace modifications, and ergonomic adjustments while supporting daily maintenance and warehouse operations that keep DSHS programs running smoothly. Your work helps staff stay productive and focused on serving Washington’s most vulnerable residents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • At least four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully.
  • Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public.
  • Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statewide office moves and reconfigurations involving a wide variety of cubicle systems, furniture, repairs, and panel modifications.
  • Interpret facility blueprints, cubicle floor plans, and CAD drawings to efficiently install and reconfigure office panel and furniture systems.
  • Coordinate with planners, D.J.S., Telecommunications, GA, contracted electricians, and the Property of Records Manager to support statewide office reconfiguration projects.
  • Operate agency vehicles including trucks, vans, and leased equipment to complete Property Redistribution Center duties across Washington.
  • Use computer databases, software, digital cameras, and IT tools to support Asset Management and PRC warehouse functions such as inventory control and charge-backs.
  • Operate forklifts and tools safely to support warehouse operations and statewide office moves or reconfigurations.
  • Complete shipping and inventory documentation for receiving, issuing, warehousing, and managing surplus property.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control using the DSHS TRACKS Automated Inventory Control System while ensuring the warehouse and equipment remain clean, organized, and operational.
