About The Position

The First Steps 4K Assistant Teacher supports the safety, education, and care of children at The Sunshine House in Duncan, South Carolina. The role helps provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning environment where children can learn, play, and grow. The assistant teacher supports children’s social and emotional development and fosters learning through the Creative Curriculum, Brain Connect programs, and the South Carolina First Steps 4K curriculum to prepare children for kindergarten. The position also involves building partnerships with families through daily app updates and personal conversations, sharing children’s milestones, and working as part of a supportive team. The position is located at 804 South Danzler Road, Duncan, SC 29334. Pay starts at $17 per hour; candidates with advanced early childhood education experience and education may qualify for higher pay within the range. Regular pay increases are considered based on additional education, performance, and service. The schedule is Monday through Friday.

Requirements

Passion for working with young children.
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to pass background checks and health assessments.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for child safety and emergencies.
ECD 101 or higher for assistant teachers.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of experience at a licensed childcare center is preferred.
