About The Position

The Sunshine House is hiring a First Steps 4K Assistant Teacher at its school in Duncan, South Carolina. The role supports the safety, education, and care of young children and helps prepare them for kindergarten by implementing the South Carolina First Steps 4K curriculum. Teachers create a safe, healthy, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and grow, while supporting their social and emotional development and building partnerships with families. Starting pay is $17 per hour; candidates with advanced early-childhood education or experience may qualify for higher pay. The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and is part of a childcare and early education organization operating more than 100 schools across seven states.

Requirements

Passion for working with young children.
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass background checks and health assessments.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for child safety and emergencies.
ECD 101 or higher for assistant teachers.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of experience at a licensed childcare center is preferred.
