About The Position

The Firearms Specialist assists with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department and is responsible for timely, accurate completion of records involving firearm sales while maintaining compliance with FFL regulations. The role also supports general retail operations, including pricing, stocking, receiving freight, organizing products, and cycle counts. The specialist helps keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits and assists with training staff on firearm-recordkeeping and sales procedures.

Requirements

• Good understanding of A&D log requirements and best practices.
• Knowledge of filing denied and no-transfer 4473s and standardized filing of completed 4473s.
• Knowledge of how an AR and a multiple sale are recorded, and how multiple-handgun sales are properly recorded.
• Knowledge of how employees and customers should make corrections on a 4473.
• Knowledge of acceptable forms of customer identification.
• Knowledge of when a sale should be refused and what constitutes a straw sale.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in the retail store and assist with customer service questions.
• Assist with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department.
• Complete all records involving firearm sales accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with FFL regulations.
• Price merchandise and make price changes as requested by store management.
• Stock and face merchandise on shelves as requested by store management.
• Assist in receiving freight and organize incoming products as directed by store management.
• Assist with cycle counts.
• Keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits.
• Assist in training other staff on A&D log requirements and best practices; filing denied and no-transfer 4473s; standardized filing of completed 4473s; recording AR and multiple sales; multiple-handgun sales; correcting 4473s; acceptable customer identification; when to refuse a sale; and identifying and handling straw sales.
