About The Position

The Firearms Specialist assists with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department and is responsible for timely and accurate completion of records involving firearm sales while maintaining compliance with FFL regulations. The role also involves general retail support, including assisting customers, pricing and stocking merchandise, receiving freight, and helping with cycle counts. The specialist helps keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits and assists in training staff on firearm-sale recordkeeping and compliance practices.

Requirements

• Good understanding of A&D log requirements and best practices.
• Good understanding of filing denied and no-transfer 4473s and standardized filing of completed 4473s.
• Good understanding of how to record multiple sales, including multiple handgun sales.
• Good understanding of how employees and customers should make corrections on a 4473.
• Good understanding of acceptable forms of customer identification, when a sale should be refused, and what constitutes a straw sale.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in the retail store and assist with customer service questions.
• Assist with customer service and sales in the Sporting Goods Department.
• Complete firearm-sale records accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with FFL regulations.
• Price merchandise and make price changes as requested by store management.
• Stock and face merchandise on shelves as requested by store management.
• Assist in receiving freight and organizing incoming products as directed by store management.
• Assist with cycle counts.
• Keep the store prepared for ATF and internal audits.
• Assist in training staff on A&D log requirements and best practices; filing denied and no-transfer 4473s; standardized filing of completed 4473s; recording multiple sales, including multiple handgun sales; making corrections to a 4473; acceptable customer identification; when a sale should be refused; and identifying and handling straw sales.
