About The Position

SOCOTEC’s Fire & Life Safety team works to protect building occupants by helping buildings meet applicable building and fire codes and industry standards. The team evaluates fire and life safety systems, reviews building designs, conducts inspections, researches codes, and identifies potential risks. It helps clients develop solutions that support safe evacuation, reduce risks, and protect people in the built environment. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on real-world building and fire safety projects. The internship offers hands-on exposure to building codes, fire protection systems, and the application of safety practices to building design and construction. Depending on project needs, the intern may assist with code research, plan reviews, risk analysis, inspections, field observations, technical reports, and project documentation. The role combines office-based work with visits to construction sites and existing buildings, where interns must follow applicable safety requirements. SOCOTEC offers competitive compensation and benefits, mentorship, training, professional development opportunities, and social activities. The experience may provide a foundation for future roles such as Fire Protection Engineering Associate or Fire & Life Safety Consultant.
