About The Position

The Fire Inspector performs inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems to ensure regulatory compliance and operational safety. This role involves independent fieldwork, customer coordination, detailed reporting, and collaboration with internal teams to support timely job completion and billing.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • NICET 2 Fire Alarm System or Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm System or ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician Level 2 (CFAT2) required
  • Seattle FA1 certificate preferred, or ability to obtain required NICET II Inspection and Testing of Water-Based System required.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA required
  • Basic knowledge of construction and electrical wiring required.
  • Aptitude in the use of hand tools required.
  • English language skills required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills required.
  • Word processing and basic spreadsheet skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required.
  • Final applicant will need to have the ability to pass a pre-employment screening process.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years post high-school education preferred
  • UL standards in addition preferred
  • Dual certification in fire alarm and water-based systems preferred
  • Seattle certifications (FA-ITM, FA-1, AS-ITT, AS-3, FP-ITM, FP-1, FEX-1) preferred
  • Washington State BAT (Backflow Assembly Tester) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Complete detailed and accurate inspection reports, documenting deficiencies and recommended improvements
  • Independently contact customers to schedule and coordinate inspections in a timely and professional manner
  • Demonstrated the ability to work autonomously in the field while collaborating effectively with team members as needed
  • Communicate and coordinate daily with the Inspections Manager, Scheduling team, and other internal teams regarding job status, delays, requirements, closeout, and turnover for billing
  • Maintain compliance with NFPA standards, company procedures, and local jurisdictional requirements
  • All other miscellaneous responsibilities and other duties as assigned
