About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS), a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools, seeks a passionate, data-driven teacher to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction for K–8 students. The role focuses on supporting academic achievement and developing students’ foundational skills and critical thinking through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed decisions. The position is at AMS South Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona, for the 2026–2027 school year, with a listed start date of ASAP.

Requirements

Meet at least one of the following: hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field; hold valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area; or have at least three years of K–12 teaching experience.
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

Deliver rigorous instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks and standards.
Differentiate instruction for students performing above and below grade level.
Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.
Build students’ foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment with high expectations.
Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to improve teaching practices.
Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Communicate regularly with families about student progress.
Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain home-school partnerships.
