About The Position

The Financial Applications Analyst serves as Finance and Accounting’s functional owner and subject matter expert for financial applications, with primary responsibility for optimizing PDI as the company’s ERP and strengthening the systems, integrations, controls, and processes that support accurate and efficient financial operations. The role translates Accounting and business requirements into practical system solutions, troubleshoots complex application and data issues in partnership with IT, and leads Finance-side testing, documentation, training, and continuous improvement. It also evaluates, selects, and helps implement a reconciliation solution and treasury management system (TMS), focusing on automation, data integrity, scalability, and strong financial controls. This hybrid role follows a Monday-through-Friday operating schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. In-office days are Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday and Friday designated as work-from-home days. Business needs may occasionally require work outside core hours or in-office attendance on work-from-home days. Occasional travel, including overnight stays for training, conferences, or other events, may be required; approved accommodations and expenses are reimbursable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience supporting, implementing, or optimizing ERP or other financial applications; Accounting or Finance environment experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering business requirements, mapping processes, testing system changes, troubleshooting issues, and supporting implementations or upgrades.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to trace transactions and data across systems and distinguish system issues from accounting or process issues.
  • Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated ability to work with financial data, reports, queries, and system-generated outputs.
  • Strong project management, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and work effectively with Finance, IT, business users, and third-party vendors.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship and C2C opportunities are not available.
  • Willingness to submit to a pre-employment background check, including a credit check, in accordance with applicable laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with PDI Enterprise or comparable retail or fuel ERP platforms.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing account reconciliation, financial close, or transaction-matching solutions.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing a treasury management system and integrating ERP, banking, payment, and cash-management platforms.
  • Experience with financial system integrations, interface monitoring, APIs or file-based data exchanges, and root-cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or similar reporting and data tools.
  • Experience in an audit-supported environment with strong change management, access, segregation-of-duties, and system-control practices.
  • Experience leading complex workstreams or serving as a functional lead on cross-functional system implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Finance and Accounting subject matter expert and functional owner for PDI, optimizing configuration, workflows, controls, financial data, reporting, and user experience.
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, IT, and operational business teams to understand requirements, evaluate processes, identify root causes and control gaps, and develop system and process solutions.
  • Monitor application performance and data integrity; investigate interface, posting, reconciliation, and reporting issues and coordinate resolution with IT, vendors, and business owners.
  • Establish monitoring and exception-management processes for key financial interfaces, including tracking failures, root causes, ownership, resolution, aging, recurrence, and financial impact.
  • Lead Finance-side requirements, evaluation, selection, design, testing, implementation, and adoption of a reconciliation tool and a treasury management system.
  • Manage financial application enhancements and upgrades from requirements through user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-implementation support; develop test scripts and validate results before production release.
  • Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes, reduce spreadsheet dependence and duplicate entry, improve close efficiency, and strengthen financial controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and govern financial system documentation, including process flows, configurations, integration maps, data definitions, procedures, controls, test evidence, and issue-resolution history.
  • Develop and maintain Finance-owned reports, queries, data extracts, and analytical tools, and validate completeness, accuracy, and reconciliation to the general ledger and source systems.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by ensuring applications and interfaces operate as expected, resolving system-related exceptions, and analyzing issues affecting financial results.
  • Partner with IT on access, security roles, segregation of duties, change management, integrations, and system support while maintaining clear accountability for technical ownership and Finance requirements and validation.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and implementation partners, manage issues and enhancement requests, and assess solutions for business value, control implications, cost, and scalability.
