About The Position

Intertek-PSI is seeking an entry-level Field Technician for its Building and Construction division in Orlando, Florida. The role performs field inspections, construction materials testing, project observations, and site assessments to help verify conformance with construction plans and specifications. The technician prepares daily inspection reports and testing data sheets, operates testing equipment, documents test results, and communicates with clients and project teams. Work is performed under general supervision and/or according to controlled procedures, with attention to safety practices and policies. No prior experience is required; in-house training is offered.

Requirements

• Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills and solid interpersonal skills.
• Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
• Ability to read and understand work plans.
• Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed.
• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to meet regional and state task-related certification requirements, where applicable.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience performing field work, construction materials testing, or inspections; no experience is required, and in-house training is offered.
• ACI, ICC, or FDOT certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections and construction materials testing to assess conformance with construction plans and specifications.
• Perform testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under general supervision or controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct tests, such as soil and concrete testing, and report assessments of the data.
• Work with drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
• Use specified methods to observe site activities and perform assigned tasks.
• Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
• Prepare inspection daily reports, testing data sheets, and other detailed documentation of test results.
• Calculate mathematical test results using a calculator.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Follow safety practices and policies to protect personal safety and the safety of others.
