Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician (Entry Level)
About The Position
Braun Intertec is seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Testing Technician for its Tyler, Texas office. The technician will learn to conduct testing on construction materials, including soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt, at commercial and transportation construction projects. The selected candidate will receive in-depth technical training and may earn industry certifications after successfully completing examinations and demonstrating the required ability. This is an opportunity to join a successful, fast-paced team with a steady and growing backlog of projects. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and able to lift 50–75+ pounds. Braun Intertec encourages employees to expand their skills and certifications through company-provided training and mentoring. New hires must complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle report.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Obtain ACI Field Level I and Radiation certification within 6 months of hire.
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts.
- Flexibility to work extended or nontraditional hours as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to lift 50–75+ pounds.
- Microsoft Office experience or ability to learn.
Nice To Haves
- Vocational degree preferred.
- Related work experience in materials testing or construction.
Responsibilities
- Perform field density tests of soils.
- Perform field concrete testing, including slump, air content, and strength tests.
- Prepare daily reports.
- Work with project managers and senior technicians or staff to ensure specifications are followed.
- Perform routine sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt, and assist with more complex tasks as required.
