About The Position

The Field Technician works primarily in the field, collecting data accurately and promptly at residential and commercial customer locations. The role includes reading water meters, maintaining route logs and paperwork, inspecting and repairing water meters and utility infrastructure, and connecting or disconnecting utility services. The technician also operates a company vehicle on assigned routes and performs general landscape maintenance.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to understand water systems and concepts.
Strong attention to detail.
Must be available to work weekends, overtime, and on-call as needed.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in the water distribution, maintenance, or servicing industry.

Responsibilities

Review service orders to determine locations where meter readings need to be performed.
Read water meters and enter data in route logs.
Maintain required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults, and damages.
Repair and/or replace broken water mains and service lines.
Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to the Project Manager.
Operate a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for an assigned route.
Connect and disconnect utility services as directed.
Ensure data in the utility log book is maintained correctly and kept updated.
Perform general landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, clean-ups, pruning, and other typical landscape maintenance tasks.
Perform other related duties as directed.
