About The Position

This position provides lead direction for a designated group of parking officers. This position serves as the primary contact for the university in providing parking information and directions to campus constituents in the field. This may include services such as welcoming individuals to the campus, providing parking assistance, battery jumps, locating lost vehicles, providing directions and pay station or park mobile application assistance. In addition, protects the fiscal integrity of the Parking Program and promotes the safe operation of the parking facilities through the issuance of parking citations to vehicles parked in violation of State Law or campus parking regulations.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of related experience required.
  • Must be eligible to qualify for a State of California Driver's Certificate.
  • Must be 18 years of age, possess a valid Class C California Driver's License, and operate a pickup truck.
  • Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
  • Strong writing skills appropriate to the classification level.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to positively engage with all segments of the campus community.
  • Physically capable of independently lifting and moving barricades and parking control devices.
  • Ability to quickly and objectively analyze situations to determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and consistently communicates in a professional and civil manner.
  • Knowledge of operational procedures for technical equipment, including pick-up trucks, permit dispenser machines, and alternative transportation vehicles such as electric carts.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols the campus parking areas on foot or in a vehicle for the purpose of issuing citations to vehicles parked in violation of the California Vehicle Code, Education Code, or applicable CSU LB parking regulations.
  • Utilizes hand held devices and LPR (License Plate Recognition) equipment to issue citations, locate habitual offender "bootable" vehicles and report out of service parking permit machines and equipment to Parking Manager.
  • Assigns Parking Officers, daily Parking Officer I duties to provide service to community and ensure shifts are reflected in Events Management System (EMS) as needed.
  • Completes Daily Shift Report to provide management with operational information.
  • Assists in the transportation of parking personnel to areas of operation.
  • As the first point of contact provides a high level of customer service to campus constituents in the field.
  • Provides traffic assistance throughout the campus in heavily congested areas (parking lots and roadways) due to construction zones, special projects, road closures, campus activities (not entered as events), accidents, and campus emergencies.
