About The Position

Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician (Surface) for the Virginia, MN Area. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical or electrical background and excellent diagnostic skills. Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry, offering solutions for rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling, and materials handling. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components at high-profile mining sites. You will also perform new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites with minimal supervision, primarily covering the Minnesota market. The role involves working in surface mining environments, and candidates must be comfortable with these conditions. Travel is required, with a company vehicle provided, covering multiple sites within a 2-hour radius. Overnight stays are typically avoided unless called out of state for coverage.

Requirements

  • Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields or equivalent years of professional field/technical experience.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years industry related experience.
  • Mining equipment experience.
  • Technical experience to include diesel and electrical experience.
  • Success in team environments, with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous success in self-motivated roles.
  • Previous success in customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret equipment schematics.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb, and use safety equipment.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States on an indefinite basis without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Diesel and high voltage electrical experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and or electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components at high profile mining sites.
  • Perform new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determines faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scopes of work.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
  • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with the industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current and in compliance with all Sandvik, Customer, State, and Federal regulatory safety policies.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction within the area of primary responsibility.
