About The Position

The Field Service Technician will communicate closely with the Field Service Supervisor, as it relates to the accomplishment of directives, objectives, and the communication of the status of ongoing affairs. The Field Service Technician will also work closely with other production and service personnel, coordinating with them on various aspects of customer service requirements. The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on multiple makes of generators with minimal guidance. The technician will diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine, and switch gear. They will maintain a positive interface with service writers, foremen, the parts department, and customers, ensuring paperwork is kept updated and submitted upon completion. Meeting company and customer certifications and safety requirements is crucial. The position also includes performing administrative duties related to the role, routine maintenance, and daily tasks on packages within their Area of Responsibility (AOR). Observing and listening to turbines in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures, while meeting budgeted labor hours for each job, is also a key responsibility. Driving to customer locations to diagnose and repair equipment and using computers or phone applications for web-based training and the work order system are essential. Other related duties may be assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Daily overtime required and in person, predictable attendance.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • U.S. High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years medium voltage electrical experience and/or instrumentation experience.
  • 2 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • 12 months of previous oilfield experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the following: EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), DOT (Department of Transportation), RRC (Railroad Commission), OHSA (Occupational Safety and Health Association), NEC (National Electrical Code), AGA (American Gas Association), API (American Petroleum Institute) and GPA (Gas Processing Association).
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend intermediate English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete the scheduled New Hire Safety training, including but not limited to H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
  • Attends and successfully completes annual safety recertification training.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 15-hour shifts for fourteen consecutive days.
  • Ability to work within a team concept to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Fully knowledgeable, compliant and takes initiative to promote and work with digital platforms including Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems.
  • For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical College Training.
  • Associate degree in electrical technology or related field.
  • Protection Relay Experience/ Certifications.
  • Certified journeyman electrician/ Master Electrician.
  • Gas Turbine or Aircraft Engine Services (A&P License).
  • MV experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read electrical/controls drawings and schematics is a plus.
  • Ability to operate testing equipment (Megger, Multimeter/Process Meter, Amp probe, High Pot, Test Unit, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on multiple makes of generators with minimal guidance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical systems issues, instrumentation issues, controls issues, or mechanical issues.
