About The Position

Modern Packaging is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their growing Aftermarket team. This role is crucial for supporting customers and ensuring their equipment operates at peak performance. The ideal candidate will be a motivated technician based in the Deer Park, NY (Long Island Area) who excels at problem-solving and building strong customer relationships. As a trusted technical resource, you will be responsible for hands-on technical work, variety in your daily tasks, and the opportunity to travel while making a significant impact for customers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Technician (or similar) with 3+ years of machine startup, repair, and maintenance on medium to large-scale industrial equipment.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills to manage schedules, paperwork, and technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly, train customer personnel, and work well with all levels of operators and management.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, able to work independently while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally (passport required; occasional trips to Mexico and Canada).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in a related technical field (mechanical or electrical) preferred.
  • Strong technical skills, including mechanical repair, ability to read part/assembly drawings and wiring schematics, and familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and servo controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, repair, and maintain Modern Packaging automated machinery at customer sites, including both electrical and mechanical work.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to achieve contracted efficiency rates, perform audits, install upgrades, and deliver follow-up operator training.
  • Document all service activities (installations, commissioning, repairs, and upgrades) in detailed site reports.
  • Support customers by recommending machine upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts that improve safety, performance, reliability, and inventory management.
  • Train customer personnel during installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
  • While not traveling, support the Deer Park, NY facility by assembling and testing new machines and participating in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to diverse work environments and resolve issues quickly.
