About The Position

Commissions and services Alkar product lines. Conducts on-site customer operational and maintenance equipment training and start-up. This role involves servicing Alkar product lines, documenting all service-related activities, and working from schematics, diagrams, and detailed plans to perform testing, checkout, modifications, and troubleshooting on Alkar equipment. The technician will also assist the Controls Department with custom PLC control systems, develop methods to remedy malfunctions, and conduct customer training on operational and maintenance procedures. Additionally, the role includes preparing reports on product failure trends, downloading and configuring programs for HMI and PLC systems, assigning and updating system IP addresses, configuring VFD parameters, and copying/distributing programs. The technician interacts directly with customers, services multiple Alkar product lines, and carries out assignments with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Two-year associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related technical training.
  • Minimum of three to four years trouble-shooting experience in manufacturing equipment including commissioning and field service experience.
  • Good analytical and problem solving, verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with air balance, temperature control or commissioning of gas heated equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Services Alkar product lines.
  • Documents all service-related activities.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or detailed plans to perform testing, checkout modifications and troubleshooting on Alkar equipment.
  • Assists Controls Department in modifying and servicing custom PLC control systems.
  • Assists in developing methods or actions to remedy malfunctions for Alkar product lines.
  • Conducts on-site customer training including proper operational and equipment maintenance procedures of equipment.
  • Prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service issues.
  • Download and configure programs for HMI and PLC systems
  • Assign and update system IP addresses
  • Configure VFD parameters within control programs
  • Copy, package, and distribute programs to Alkar for implementation
  • Performs additional assignments as requested by Service Manager.
