About The Position

As our Field Service Technician, you'll install, start up, and service woodworking machinery for customers across your territory. No two days are quite the same — one day you're commissioning a new machine, the next you're on-site troubleshooting a control system for a customer who needs to get their production line running again. You'll be the technical expert customers rely on, and the resource our team turns to on woodworking machine lines.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience as a machine service technician, ideally with woodworking equipment
• Post-graduate certification from a recognized technical institution
• Strong knowledge of machinery electrics, electronics, PLCs, servo controls, and pneumatics
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and day-to-day computer use
• Strong communication skills and a genuine customer service orientation
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in the field
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the territory, including occasional evenings

Nice To Haves

• CNC, machinist, or fabrication experience an asset

Responsibilities

• Install, start up, and commission new and used woodworking machinery at Akhurst or customer sites
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control issues efficiently to minimize customer downtime
• Deliver hands-on customer training on machine operation, applications, maintenance, and safety
• Order and manage parts to keep jobs on schedule
• Complete work orders, time, and expense reports accurately and on time
• Liaise with manufacturers on unresolved service issues and escalate as needed
• Stay current on Akhurst's woodworking machine lines through ongoing training
