About The Position

Our southeast division specializes in hydraulic solutions for the aerospace, machine tool, forestry and marine industries. The Field Service Technician is responsible for system and component installations, repairs, troubleshooting, maintenance, and retrofits to customer’s equipment or machinery. Travel to jobsites and/or work in a shop environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license, and able to qualify and drive company vehicles (forklift, truck, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) year degree or Four (4) year trade school degree preferred.
  • Forklift license preferred, as applicable.
  • Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or combination of technical education and experience preferred.
  • Must obtain Fluid Power Society certification for mechanic or technician preferred, as applicable within 2 years of hire date.
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Welding and spray booth painting experience (Military specifications and/or ABS standards preferred), as applicable.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, automation, and pneumatic components.
  • Knowledge of electrical processes and procedures.
  • Ability to implement mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and use general math applications in order to read schematics.
  • Ability to react and perform under stress and emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical circuits, as applicable.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic control systems schematics/blueprints.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments (i.e., torque wrenches, calipers, squares, scales, pressure and torque gauges, vibration sensing devices, temperature indicators, and measuring tape) to ensure components/systems are within required tolerance and specifications.
  • Full understanding of imperial and metric measuring systems.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task, including support of additional normal fabrication shop practices or assignments (equipment maintenance, clean up, cross functional training).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and policies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow engineering schematic drawings, Bills of Material, and technical specifications.
  • Hydraulic system troubleshooting.
  • Inspect valves, pumps, various actuators, and system components.
  • Assemble, test, and service systems and components comprised mainly of company products.
  • Perform general mechanical tasks, including as necessary basic welding, torch, grinding, painting, etc.
  • Maintain records as required (assembly routers, quality, dimensional checks, testing, etc.).
  • Follow the process of paperwork requirements of billings, reports, and documentation.
  • Properly control, store, maintain, and secure assets (inventory, tools, machinery consumables, etc.).
  • Fabricate and install high pressure tubing using standard fittings.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the shop area or field job-site.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Disassemble machinery and repair or replace broken parts.
  • Dismantle, test, and analyze malfunctioning equipment, hand tools, and power tools to locate defects.
  • Clean and lubricate parts.
  • Monitor the functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards/problems and the potential need for adjustments, repairs, or replacement.
  • Responsible to keep up to date on product training.
  • Work in environmental conditions to include periods of extreme heat and cold.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Must be able to travel for short periods of time.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Oftentimes you will be given directions by the lead field service technician.
  • Drive company vehicles while obeying all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
