The Field Service Technician II repairs and services crane machinery and equipment by diagnosing failures, testing and adjusting equipment, and repairing or replacing defective parts. The technician disassembles and cleans components, inspects them to maximize parts reuse and control repair costs, and prepares estimates and supporting information for quotes. The role documents work through parts requisitions, time cards, service reports, work orders, and other dealer computer systems, ensuring records are legible, accurate, and sufficiently detailed. The technician monitors expenses against estimates and alerts the lead person to cost overruns before completing work. The position may temporarily assume the lead person role as needed. The technician maintains the tools and service literature needed for the job, keeps current with technical changes, and cares for company machines and equipment while working safely and neatly. The role requires independent problem solving, research and analysis, planning, communication, customer service, and adaptation to change. Work is typically performed during regular business hours, with occasional nights, holidays, and weekends. The job has no supervisory responsibility and involves frequent outdoor work and exposure to a range of environmental conditions and physical demands.
