About The Position

The Field Service Technician II - Crane is responsible for repairing or replacing defective parts on machinery/equipment. This role involves disassembling components, cleaning parts, and inspecting them to maximize the reuse of parts to control repair costs. The technician will test, diagnose, and adjust equipment failures. They will also create repair estimates, submit information for quotes, and prepare parts requisitions, time cards, and service reports, ensuring accuracy and legibility for accounting needs. The role requires monitoring job expenses against estimates and alerting supervisors to cost overruns. The technician may temporarily assume the lead person position and will demonstrate the use of dealer computer systems for work orders and documentation. Maintaining a required set of tools and working in a neat, orderly, and safe manner are essential. The technician must maintain personal company service literature and stay aware of technical changes in the industry. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Formal Education High School diploma or GED
  • Experience 7 or more years
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Must have completed standards outlined in the personnel achievement guideline or have been determined to meet the same qualification by the lead person based on division location.
  • Must posses a valid Class E Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • A specialized technical course or equivalent years experience as a Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts on machinery/equipment.
  • Disassembles components and properly clean parts.
  • Inspects components to ensure maximum parts are being reused to control repair costs.
  • Tests, diagnoses and adjusts failures of equipment.
  • Creates repair estimates and submits information to substantiate quotes and estimates.
  • Prepares all parts requisitions, time cards, or service reports, as requested by the supervisor. Ensures they are legible and accurate with sufficient detail for service accounting needs.
  • Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and ensures that the lead person is aware of any cost over run, prior to the job being completed.
  • Assumes the lead person position temporarily, as necessary.
  • Demonstrates utilization of dealer computer systems for work orders and other documentation.
  • Maintains a minimum set of tools required for job performance.
  • Works in a neat, orderly, and safe manner while caring for and maintaining company machines/equipment.
  • Maintains personal company service literature, and maintains a high awareness of technical changes in the industry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
