The Field Service Technician I conducts assigned work safely and in accordance with applicable safety, environmental, and contamination-control policies and procedures, and wears appropriate personal protective equipment. The technician attends and completes required training, maintains the tools needed for the job, and diagnoses and performs designated repairs on customer- or company-owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. The role includes inspecting components to maximize parts reuse and control repair costs; documenting repairs and repair time in appropriate software; monitoring job expenses against estimates and alerting a supervisor to potential cost overruns before work is complete; and maintaining an orderly work area while seeking improvements to work methods and safety. The technician contributes to team results by completing work on time while meeting safety and quality expectations, may train or mentor others, and may temporarily assume a supervisor’s position as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. The position requires complex problem solving and independent research and analysis in a changing work environment. Work is generally not closely monitored, and the technician is expected to use discretion in methods, priorities, and decisions while achieving defined objectives. Work is scheduled during regular business hours, with frequent requirements to work nights, holidays, and weekends. The work environment includes regular exposure to physical and environmental conditions such as outdoor weather, extreme heat, noise, vibration, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes, dust, and oils.
