Field Service Power Generation Technician

About The Position

Completes preventative maintenance and basic repair activities on generators or components at customer sites with minimal direction. The role is with Cummins’ Distribution Business in Charlotte, North Carolina. The technician performs repairs and maintenance using diagnostic tools, interacts professionally with customers, keeps detailed service records, follows Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, develops and maintains certifications on Cummins products, and maintains their own tools. Entry-level work focuses primarily on preventative maintenance and basic generator repairs or diagnostics, with direct supervision and review of workmanship.

Requirements

Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
High-voltage and low-voltage experience.
Ability to perform electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision, with hands-on exposure to power generation products.
Basic diesel engine experience for entry-level work.
Minimal workshop-related experience.
Basic knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products.
Current valid driving license or permit.
Must be at least 18 years old and have 2 years of driving experience.
Must have a 5-year motor vehicle report free from major violations.

Nice To Haves

Apprentice-trained Power Generation or Electrical Technician.
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
Current relevant electrical certification.
