About The Position

Bigge Crane and Rigging is hiring a Field Service Mechanic to repair and maintain rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane equipment, as well as various types of forklifts. The work primarily focuses on equipment service and repair. The mechanic must be willing to travel for extended periods, travel on short notice, and stay away overnight—sometimes for several days. The position is also on call nights and weekends for crane repairs at customer job sites.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane construction equipment; vocational training may be considered in lieu of experience.
Strong background in electrical systems, drivetrains, engines, hydraulics, and computer-controlled systems.
Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
Computer literacy and ability to process information.
Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
History of safe work habits.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
High school diploma required.
Clean driving record and ability to drive a company service truck.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and experience assembling and disassembling various crawler cranes.
Higher education, including vocational training.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane equipment, as well as various types of forklifts.
Perform annual certifications and inspections.
Troubleshoot equipment from manufacturers including Manitowoc, Grove, Terex, Tadano, Broderson, Kobelco, and Liebherr.
Perform tasks independently without direct supervision.
Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and other personnel.
Travel on short notice and stay overnight, sometimes for several days.
Be on call nights and weekends for crane repairs at customer job sites.
Supply personal hand tools and maintain an up-to-date tool inventory for service trucks.
Drive a company service truck with a clean driving record and keep the truck clean and maintained.
