The Field Service Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs trucks, trailers, aerial lifts, forklifts, pickups, and tree service equipment used by vegetation management crews. This is a mobile position that brings repair and maintenance services to equipment in the field and at yards across the Georgia and Tennessee area. The technician performs scheduled preventive maintenance and responds to equipment breakdowns, working on equipment and systems from manufacturers including Altec, Terex, Freightliner, Cummins, and Allison. The role reports directly to the Fleet Services Manager. Work involves frequent travel between sites, driving, and hands-on outdoor repairs in a non-climate-controlled environment and in varied weather. Standard shifts are 8 or 10 hours, with overtime, emergency call-outs, storm response, and weekend and holiday work as needed. Overnight stays may be necessary when travel takes the technician far from home; per diem or company-provided hotel accommodations are available. The position requires safe roadside and right-of-way work practices, accurate service and expense records, communication with crews and foremen, and coaching crews on equipment care. The Halter Group provides right-of-way clearing services for utility, gas, pipeline, and D.O.T. customers. The company says its principles are Integrity, Safety, Accountability, Motivation, and Respect. The role is full-time, with a starting rate of $30.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience. The company offers help earning a CDL B through a company-provided program, with a goal of obtaining the license within 90 days.
