The Field Service Technician is a mobile diesel mechanic who inspects, maintains, and repairs the trucks, trailers, aerial lifts, forklifts, pickups, and tree service equipment used by vegetation management crews. The role travels between job sites and yards across the Georgia and Tennessee area, bringing repair services to equipment in the field, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and responding to breakdowns in varied weather and outdoor conditions. Equipment includes Altec, Terex, Freightliner, Cummins, and Allison products. The technician works with crews and foremen to assess equipment needs, prioritize repairs, document service activity and expenses, and promote preventive maintenance and daily equipment care. The role follows established safety procedures, supports storm response, and responds to after-hours, weekend, and holiday call-outs. It reports directly to the Fleet Services Manager. The position is full-time, with standard 8- or 10-hour shifts and overtime or emergency work as needed. Travel may require overnight stays, with per diem or company-provided hotel accommodations when travel is beyond the employee's home base. The work includes frequent driving and hands-on outdoor repairs in a non-climate-controlled environment. Starting pay is $30.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. The company offers a program to help employees earn a CDL B within 90 days, contingent on meeting permit and training goals.
