About The Position

MANTECH seeks a motivated, customer-oriented Field Service Engineer to support its Global Services Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract out of Japan. The contract supports the Defense Information System Network (DISN) and associated networking capabilities. MANTECH also provides DISA field engineering support at sites in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Western Pacific, and Alaska. The role performs field installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and site acceptance work on network components and infrastructure. It involves coordinating with users, site and base support, security and facilities personnel, network managers and controllers, and carriers to plan and execute site access, installations, cutovers, and network activations or deactivations. The position is onsite and requires a current, active DoD Secret clearance, with willingness and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience in one or more of fault management, configuration management, and WAN maintenance.
Expertise in one or more of IP routing, optical networking, cryptography, or network appliances such as WAN acceleration.
Ability to work in a team-focused, dynamic environment.
Experience fabricating serial, Cat6, coaxial, fiber, and DC power cables for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
Experience with major vendors such as Sycamore, Ciena, Juniper, Promina, and Cisco.
Current, active DoD Secret security clearance and willingness and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Ability to remain stationary 50% of the time, occasionally move about inside an office to access file cabinets and office machinery, and frequently communicate with coworkers, management, and customers, potentially delivering presentations.

Manufacturer certifications for vendor-specific equipment, such as CISCO or Juniper.
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+CE or equivalent or higher certification).

Responsibilities

Perform installation, removal, upgrade, and interface work on network components at user locations.
Inventory shipments; install racks, equipment, and infrastructure; and provide redline installation documents and completion reports.
Facilitate and finalize all aspects of site acceptance.
Activate and deactivate network components according to established schedules.
Coordinate with users, site/base support, security offices, facilities personnel, network managers and controllers, and long-haul and local carriers for site access, installations, cutovers, activations, deactivations, planning, and execution.
Install and upgrade or repair DISA IP-based classified and unclassified LAN/WAN, DWDM, and SONET networks, including routers, switches, long-haul transport, servers, cryptographic systems, and other IT equipment.
Assist DISA and other end users with troubleshooting and system and file recovery; install operating systems, network systems, and applications; and test network paths using BERT tests and checks of framing, line coding, protocols, SONET, and IP.
Use OTDR and OSA test equipment to troubleshoot and analyze long-haul fiber and DWDM circuit outages.
Conduct technically detailed site surveys to assess site preparedness and develop installation plans, minor installation parts lists, and cost estimates.
Set up and maintain CISCO, Juniper, Safenet, Ciena, and Sycamore devices.
Fabricate serial, Cat6, coaxial, fiber, and DC power cables for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
