About The Position

You will serve as a principal administrative support assistant, responsible for the accomplishment of clerical, administrative, and office automation functions of the Area Office. Your work will require general knowledge of the office mission and functions of the Branch, and an understanding of how office administrative services relate to each other and to the mission. You will advise manager(s) on practical and technical aspects of office administration, including budgeting, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, data processing, and files management, and perform staff support. You will track financial, personnel, supply, and other administrative transactions as documentation flows through the office in electronic and paper form. You will collect data for the office operating budget, review submissions of office staff assistants for proper format and compliance with budget requirements, and consolidate material into the annual office budget. You will also provide contract administration support. You will use automation equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.) to produce a wide variety of materials, such as correspondence, reports, graphics, calendars, charts, statistical tables, and various forms and documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.
  • Wear personnel protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work may involve occasional trips of boats, and floating plant and field visits to heavy construction sites.
  • Work may involve exposure to environmental hazards, chemicals, bacteria, toxic particulates, machinery, adverse weather, construction noise, irregular terrain and other conditions typically associated with construction sites.
  • A qualified typist may be required.
  • Incumbent is recommended to be able to type 40 WPM.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes performing general administrative support duties; utilizing automated databases to enter, retrieve, and track organizational data; and preparing standard correspondence, reports, or records in accordance with established office procedures.
  • Must be a qualified typist (types 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors).
  • Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
  • Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Requires a 1 year probationary period.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.
