About The Position

RJN Group is seeking a Field Manager to join their employee-owned firm. This role involves executing field services, providing guidance and supervision to field staff, scheduling daily crew assignments, and ensuring work is performed within quality and productivity targets. The Field Manager will also manage labor and equipment resources, ensuring compliance with corporate standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years of field experience in municipal water, wastewater, storm water, or other infrastructure
  • At least 1 year experience as a supervisor or manager
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Proficiency with computers, ability to learn new software
  • Proficiency with smartphones and tablets (iPads, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Physical and cognitive abilities to perform confined space entry
  • Ability to read and interpret sewer and road maps
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to understand and/or convey information verbally, in writing, and in formal presentations as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Schedule daily field tasks for crews (tasks may include flow monitoring, smoke testing, manhole inspection, dyed water flooding, pressure pipe inspection, water system inspections, and more)
  • Ensure crew work schedules are completed and established production and quality goals are met
  • Ensure timely submital of daily field documentation. Review and approve documentation, daily, to ensure the satisfactory performance of the work
  • Provide safety and task training and manage competency matrix for each crew
  • Coach and mentor team of 4-8 direct reports, includes conducting employee performance reviews
  • Ensure compliance with the RJN safety policy and issue disciplinary actions per Safety Committee guidelines
  • Establish and manage quality control procedures for field services in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform periodic site quality control audits and safety audits for all crews in accordance with RJN standards
  • Manage assigned vehicle and office warehouse equipment inventories
  • Submit annual regional office budgets for field and safety equipment needs
  • Submit periodic reports which may include monthly vehicle mileage logs, maintenance reports and equipment inventory lists
  • Interact with clients and general public in a professional manner
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to effectively use and train others on electronic data collection using tablets and laptops
  • Perform troubleshooting and minor repair of field inspection equipment including small engines
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring of field personnel
  • Review and approve field staff timesheets
  • Participate in business development activities
  • Participate in RJN and client project kickoff and status meetings
  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned
  • Work overtime as required
  • Overnight travel is expected (10-25%)
