About The Position

The Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic provides exceptional customer service in the dealership through accurate inspections for defects and equipment diagnoses, and performs necessary services within the allotted time frame for each job. The mechanic maintains and repairs mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems; maintains service trucks; and travels to customer sites. The role includes documenting diagnoses and procedures, ordering necessary parts, and estimating repair completion time. The mechanic also attends and successfully completes required technician training classes and applies knowledge of equipment hazards and safety precautions.

Requirements

• Two years of technical training or certification, or equivalent heavy equipment industry experience.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL.
• Ability to read schematics and repair mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN/BUS systems.
• Maintain a proper minimum set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and reassemble components for most equipment repairs; specialty tools are provided.
• Basic oxy/acetylene cutting and welding skills.
• Working knowledge of hazards and practical application of safety precautions common to equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for defects and diagnose equipment issues.
• Maintain and repair mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Maintain service trucks and travel to customer sites.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs using appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Record and document diagnoses and repair procedures.
• Order necessary parts and estimate the time needed to complete equipment repairs.
• Attend and successfully complete required technician training classes.
• Apply knowledge of equipment hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
