About The Position

Ragnar Benson Construction, a MasTec company, is hiring a Field Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. The intern assists the Project Manager and Construction Manager on an assigned project, including supporting the project-specific quality plan and site-specific plans, and assisting with material inventory and receiving. The position requires 100% project-specific travel; candidates may live anywhere in the continental United States and may be assigned to a project site in any state. The work may involve exposure to dirt, heat, and noise, and extended hours or weekend work may be required. This is a temporary position paying $20–$21 per hour; no company benefits are offered.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 24 college credits completed.
• Basic understanding of the construction industry and accepted business practices.
• Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
• Able to meet the 100% project-specific travel requirement.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work within a team.
• Deadline-oriented.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Adaptable and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform field survey work related to layout and tracking of work activities using PC-based software and GPS station/field equipment.
• Assist with managing project-specific quality-control records and ensuring required reporting is completed.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating required audits and inspections, and ensure they are performed and documented.
• Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
• Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, and job binder creation.
• Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management.
• Assist with Request for Information (RFI) submittals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
