About The Position

Ragnar Benson Construction, a MasTec company, is hiring a Field Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. The intern assists the Project Manager and Construction Manager on an assigned project, including support for project-specific quality and site plans, material inventory and receiving, field surveying, project documentation, and coordination. The role requires 100% project-specific travel, and the intern may be assigned to a project site anywhere in the United States. Applicants may live in any city or state in the continental United States. The work may involve exposure to dirt, heat, and noise, and extended hours or weekend work may be required. Compensation is $20–$21 per hour. This is a temporary position with no company benefits offered.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 24 college credits completed.
• Basic understanding of the construction industry and accepted business practices.
• Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
• Able to travel 100% as required by the project assignment.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work within a team.
• Deadline-oriented.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Adaptable and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform field survey work related to layout and tracking of work activities using PC-based software and GPS station/field equipment.
• Assist with managing project-specific quality control records and ensuring required reporting is completed.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating required audits and inspections, and ensure they are documented.
• Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
• Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, and job binder creation.
• Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management.
• Assist with Request for Information (RFI) submittals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
