About The Position

Progressive is hiring a Field Claims Adjuster specializing in auto damage. The adjuster serves as the point of contact for customers and directs and makes decisions about the vehicle repair process from beginning to end. The role involves independently managing an inventory of claims, working with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing, and assessing liability. The position is field-based, includes access to a company car and frequent driving within an assigned geographic area, and may involve assignments outside that area or occasional reporting to an office.

Requirements

At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must comply with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Leadership and conflict-management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total-loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments when appropriate.
Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
