About The Position

Progressive is hiring an auto damage claims adjuster to serve as a point of contact for customers and direct and make decisions about the vehicle repair process from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an independent claim inventory, works closely with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing, and assesses liability. The role is field-based, includes access to a company car, and requires frequent driving within an assigned geographic area. Adjusters may cover assignments outside their area and may occasionally report to an office.

Requirements

One of the following experience and education combinations: at least four years of relevant work experience, including one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance; an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year in appraisal/estimatics or insurance.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must comply with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Leadership and conflict management skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
