About The Position

National General, part of The Allstate Corporation, provides home, auto, accident and health insurance, and specialty niche insurance products through independent agents and directly to consumers. The Field Auto Adjuster creates or audits comprehensive estimates for first- and third-party material damage claims in auto or specialty lines and helps determine the proper claim disposition. The role is based in Wayne County, Michigan; candidates should be local and able to travel within the Detroit area. The position may require two weeks of in-person training at the company’s Dallas, Texas office. Compensation is $28.03–$42.99 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. This job has no supervisory duties.

Requirements

• Strong estimating fundamentals for creating or auditing material damage estimates.
• Ability to travel within the Detroit, Michigan area; candidates should be local to the area.

Responsibilities

• Create or audit estimates for first- and third-party material damage losses of all severities.
• Apply knowledge of the content of all policy types written by the company.
• Negotiate settlements, make settlement payments, and document activities in the most complex files across multiple lines.
• Evaluate settlement alternatives for regulatory compliance and fair claims practices, and decide on the best option.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers across multiple lines.
• Train, mentor, control quality, and provide technical assistance on material damage claims.
