About The Position

Araceli’s platform is designed to enable high-speed, scalable, and data-rich cellular imaging, empowering researchers in drug discovery and translational biology to generate actionable insights with unprecedented throughput and image quality. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and customer-facing Field Applications Scientist based in the Boston MA area and covering North America, who has a very high attention to detail, keeps customers first and is looking for a challenging and exciting new role. This role will serve as a trusted scientific partner to customers, ensuring successful implementation, workflow optimization, and long-term scientific value from Araceli’s solutions. This role requires a combination of deep domain expertise in cell biology and microscopy/imaging, strong data analysis capabilities, and a proven ability to operate effectively in a customer-facing, field-based environment.

Requirements

  • B.S (with significant experience), M.S., or Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in High-content imaging / high-content screening (HCI/HCS)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Cell-based assay development
  • Experience supporting commercial instruments in a customer-facing role (FAS, Applications Scientist, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with imaging platforms (e.g., confocal, high-throughput microscopy)
  • Strong background in fluorescence imaging, staining, and assay optimization
  • Experience with image analysis software (e.g., CellProfiler, SIMA, ImageJ/Fiji, Harmony, Columbus, or similar)
  • Willingness to travel 50–70% across North America
  • Strong customer support skills; secondary benefits of “soft selling skills”
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up company environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with your sales counterparts through the sales process to close and post-sales support

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based image analysis or advanced analytics workflows
  • Experience in drug discovery R&D environments (biotech/pharma)
  • Knowledge of organoids, 3D cultures, or complex biological models
  • Exposure to automation (incl AI-driven) and high-throughput screening environments
  • Experience supporting consumables workflows (reagents, plates, kits tied to imaging)
  • Experience in LIVE cell imaging experiments, and instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary scientific contact for prospects and customers using Araceli’s Endeavor HCI platforms
  • Conduct on-site and virtual portfolio training, and application onboarding
  • Assist in optimizing, and troubleshooting cell-based imaging assays (e.g., phenotypic screening, organoids, co-culture systems) tailored to customer use cases (drug discovery, target validation, translational research)
  • Support end-to-end workflows including sample prep, staining, acquisition, and analysis
  • Provide expertise in image analysis pipelines, including segmentation, feature extraction, and data interpretation via our Clairvoyance and ClaireRT software packages
  • Advise on experimental design, controls, and statistical robustness for screening assays
  • Contribute to development of application notes, protocols, and best practices
  • Train customers on Araceli software platforms for image acquisition and analysis, AI/ML-based image analysis, and data visualization and reporting
  • Troubleshoot software workflows and collaborate with engineering/product teams on improvements
  • Support integration with LIMS and automation
  • Support data pipelines, or downstream analytics tools
  • Partner with Sales to deliver technical presentations, demos, and evaluations
  • Support proof-of-concept studies and customer pilots in conjunction with the Applications Scientific team internally
  • Translate customer needs into tailored solutions involving instruments, consumables, and workflows
  • Contribute to competitive positioning and technical differentiation
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and successful adoption of Araceli platforms, starting with the first touch point at training
  • Identify opportunities for expanded usage (new assays, consumables, software modules)
  • Act as the voice of the customer, feeding insights back to Product, Marketing, and R&D
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales & Marketing, Product & Engineering, and R&D
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and workshops
