About The Position

The Field Applications Engineer provides solution-oriented technical and commercial support to customers, primarily by installing Renishaw machine tool products and conducting training at customer facilities. The role involves understanding customer needs and developing application solutions for customers across a variety of industries. It also requires working with Customer Service, Marketing, and National Sales, generating quotes and presentations, supporting trade shows, and collaborating with the UK product development team. Extensive travel throughout the U.S. and occasional international travel are required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Electrical skills, including understanding schematics, relays, wiring, and PLCs.
• Experience operating CNC machine tools.
• Experience with CNC programming, including G/M code.
• Must be comfortable operating and programming CNC equipment and working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently and as part of a team.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical aptitude, including experience using power and hand tools, cable routing, and assembly.
• Electrical aptitude, including experience with a multimeter, wiring diagrams, and wiring relays.
• Ability to comprehend and produce technical documentation and presentations.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and measurement principles, including GD&T.
• Microsoft product knowledge.
• Information Technology knowledge.
• Ability to organize and schedule work, set priorities, and coordinate with customers.
• Interpersonal, verbal, written, and conflict-management skills.
• Must demonstrate eligibility to use and access ITAR-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

• General experience using CAD/CAM or solid-modeling software.
• General experience with a variety of CNC machine types and controls.
• General knowledge of custom macro or parametric programming.

Responsibilities

• Install Renishaw machine tool products on CNC machines.
• Develop hardware and software solutions based on customer requirements.
• Generate and install software for Renishaw products.
• Conduct training on Renishaw machine tool products at customer sites.
• Conduct product training for Renishaw staff.
• Provide technical support for Sales and Marketing.
• Work closely with the UK product development team.
• Assist with the introduction of new products.
• Set up and attend trade shows.
• Generate quotes and presentations.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
