About The Position
The Field Application Engineer Intern supports Lumentum’s Field Application Engineering team, which provides technical support for the development and implementation of complex products, applications, and solutions. The role offers an opportunity to deepen product, application, and market knowledge in cloud and AI networking infrastructure. The intern also assists sales staff in assessing how company products can meet customer needs and helps review product specifications for customer products, applications, and solutions.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to physical sciences or electrical engineering.
- Foundational knowledge of subject matter relevant to the role.
- Ability to analyze information, communicate effectively, and complete work collaboratively.
- Availability for the full internship period.
Nice To Haves
- Practical working knowledge of transceiver hardware or network switching and connectivity, including specification and testing of firmware/hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of device firmware structure and functionality.
- Knowledge of standards documents such as CMIS, Ethernet, InfiniBand, and industry MSAs.
- Python knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Support the FAE team with application lab expansion and network testing.
- Work with the FAE and sales teams to review customer requirements and application use cases.
- Work with the firmware development team to help identify bugs.
- Participate in Failure Analysis, Corrective Action, and Lessons Learned activities.
