About The Position
Sila is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the transition to clean energy. It engineers and manufactures battery materials designed to increase lithium-ion battery energy density while reducing size and weight. The Field Application Engineer/Sr Field Application Engineer works within Product Management to advance next-generation battery technology for industrial applications and support commercial products and customer requirements. This role works directly with customers on a daily basis to resolve complex technical issues. It applies hands-on expertise across lithium-ion cell components and collaborates with internal technical teams and business leads to design experiments, evaluate performance data, and develop strategic plans to drive adoption in industrial devices.
Requirements
- At least a B.S. in engineering or science.
- A minimum of 3–10 years of experience in batteries or a related field; fewer years may be sufficient for candidates with an advanced degree.
- Technical background in lithium-ion battery technology and cell components, including anodes, cathodes, separators, electrolytes, and foils.
- Experience in cell integration and commercial product bring-up.
- Ability to serve as a primary technical liaison and collaborate daily with industrial customers to resolve complex technical issues.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with technical teams and business leads to design experiments, analyze performance data, and deliver on customer requirements.
- Strategic problem-solving and project execution skills to drive technical adoption in industrial applications.

- Serve as a key technical liaison and collaborate directly with customers daily to resolve complex technical issues in industrial battery applications.
- Apply expertise with lithium-ion cell components—including anodes, cathodes, separators, electrolytes, and foils—to support battery integration and bring commercial products to market.
- Partner with internal cross-functional technical teams and business leads to design experiments, evaluate performance data, and fulfill customer requirements.
- Develop strategic plans to accelerate adoption of next-generation lithium-ion battery technology in industrial devices.
