About The Position

Persistent Systems, LLC is seeking a Field Application Engineer to support field operations from its New York City headquarters. The role involves engineering demonstrations, development testing, systems integration, on- and off-site customer support, customer training, and building relationships with prospective clients. The engineer will work with customers across the wireless communications industry, including government agencies, law enforcement, media organizations, and international commercial companies. The position supports testing, evaluation, deployment, and ongoing support of the Wave Relay® system. It also contributes to project execution, engineering solution design, technical documentation, customer training, and technical support throughout business development and deployment. The role requires travel to test locations and customer sites, with travel expected 50% of the time.

Requirements

CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications.
Knowledge of radio frequencies and wireless communications.
Experience working with customers and as part of a team with remote members.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time.
Must have, or be able to obtain, a United States security clearance.
Ability to work under time pressure with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to navigate rough terrain, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding conditions, potentially with exposure to extreme temperatures or noise.
Stamina to spend substantial time on foot, at customer sites, trade shows, demonstrations, and work-related travel.
Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry moderate weight, with some roles potentially requiring lifting up to 50 pounds.
Good hand-eye coordination for equipment setup, demonstrations, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Nice To Haves

Technical degree, preferably in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or another discipline focused on system integration, or equivalent experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of Mobile Ad hoc Networking.
Proven experience writing reports and developing test plans.
Experience performing consultative, solutions-based design and implementation for clients.
Experience conducting training from a formalized lesson plan.
Experience resolving issues at the lowest level as a customer liaison.
Experience providing customer feedback, conducting student evaluations, and preparing internal reports.
Awareness of the wireless industry and developing communications trends.

Responsibilities

Travel to test locations and customer sites to support testing, evaluation, and deployment of the Wave Relay® system.
Support project execution during deployment and support phases as a technical specialist.
Conduct development testing on new and existing Wave Relay products.
Create diagrams and documentation for engineering solutions and customer requirements.
Complete engineering tasks, including defining requirements, supporting design efforts, developing acceptance test plans, and analyzing data.
Develop technical expertise in the Wave Relay product suite.
Support the sales force with technical analysis and solution design during project business development.
Interpret written customer requirements and technical specification documents.
Provide technical documentation for suppliers, customers, and internal use.
Advise management on strategic or project-related technical issues.
Screen market segments, including key customers and competitors, on an ongoing basis.
Interact with customers and provide direct technical support.
Assist customers with integrating other systems, sensors, and components with Wave Relay systems.
Conduct on-site and off-site Wave Relay training courses.
Participate in meetings concerning customer employment of Wave Relay systems.
