About The Position

Civ Robotics is looking for a hands-on Field Application Engineer to support, deploy, test, and improve our fleet of robots in real-world construction environments. This role is ideal for a technician, field engineer, application engineer, or associate-level engineer who enjoys building, testing, troubleshooting, and working directly with customers. You will support robot deployments across the U.S. and internationally.

Requirements

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with robotic systems, field technical support, electrical/mechanical assembly, or hardware troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working with basic electronics, wiring, soldering, sensors, motors, batteries, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose issues in real-world field environments.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and stay calm under pressure when supporting customers on-site.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel for short domestic trips and international trips, including approximately once per quarter.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to ROS.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar version-control tools.
  • Experience with construction, surveying, robotics, autonomous systems, GNSS/GPS, or field-deployed hardware.
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-moving technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot robotic systems before shipment and during field deployment.
  • Provide technical support to customers both on-site and remotely.
  • Travel to customer job sites across the U.S. and internationally, including KSA and UAE.
  • Train customers on how to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Civ Robotics systems in the field.
  • Assemble, wire, and test electrical components, sensors, motors, batteries, and related hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, electrical, mechanical, and basic software issues.
  • Support field testing, product validation, and deployment readiness activities.
  • Gather customer feedback and field insights to help improve robot performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and customer success teams to improve documentation, training materials, and support processes.
  • Use tools, testing procedures, and software systems to verify that robots are operating as expected before and after deployment.
