About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Fiber Splicer helps build end-to-end fiber optic networks while maintaining a commitment to safety and high-quality customer service. The role involves testing and troubleshooting fiber optic network continuity, operating testing equipment, resolving common network challenges, and preparing fiber splice enclosures. It also requires fiber engineering knowledge, including understanding fiber designs, reading documentation, interpreting light levels, and assessing dB loss. Work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites.

Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Commitment to day-to-day safety.
Track record of completing work to a high standard of quality.
Ability to solve challenging problems and take a hands-on approach.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.
MOS Codes V80B, B05A, 3D157, 6423, or 5699 are related to this position.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
Operate fiber optic testing equipment and resolve common network challenges.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning enclosures.
Use fusion splicers and fiber testing equipment.
Apply fiber engineering knowledge to designs, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
