About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Alaska Marine Highway System, is seeking a Ferry Terminal Agent 1 to provide support to staff, Alaskan customers, and tourists. Responsibilities include tying and untying vessels, operating the hydraulic ramp, using a computerized reservation system, printing tickets, and staging vehicles for loading. This position offers opportunities for advancement within AMHS and to achieve long-term career goals.

Requirements

One year of experience performing any combination of duties that included significant contact with customers or the general public in order to provide information and assistance concerning services offered and their relevant policies and procedures, receiving payments and related cash handling, answering and directing phone inquiries, data entry and retrieval, maintaining computerized files and records, and/or ensuring the safety of people and property.
Alaska Driver's License
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) allowing employee presence within federally defined Restricted Areas to perform security duties and vessel support functions such as line handling
Physical ability to lift and carry heavy weights
Ability to work in inclement weather
Ability to work on docks and catwalks above cold water
Must obtain and maintain a valid TWIC within 30 days of employment.
Must be 18 years of age or older if operating motor vehicles.

Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not exclusively limited to, sales cashiers, bank tellers, food service wait staff, travel agents, security staff, or crew on commercial passenger vessels.
