The Ferrous Load Inspector greets incoming drivers, identifies and inspects loads from incoming trucks, and directs trucks and customers at the facility to support a positive customer experience. The role involves inspecting loads for quality, weight, packaging, hazardous materials, and safety; directing traffic so loads are dumped in the proper locations; and reporting inspection results to scale operators so customers are paid correctly for their materials. The inspector also writes inspection reports and metal tickets as needed. This is an active outdoor role involving exposure to moving mechanical parts, all weather conditions, and loud noise requiring ear protection. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work in confined spaces may also be required.
