About The Position

CLFC is seeking Federal Court Reporters to support federal district court proceedings, federal administrative hearings, and depositions across CLFC's nationwide legal-support practice. This is recurring work, not a single engagement. As an independent contractor, your earning potential ranges from $110,000 to $170,000+ annually, dependent on workload. Compensation includes an appearance and attendance fee, plus 70% of transcript page revenue, and expedited and realtime premiums. CLFC manages scheduling, credentialing, and payment, allowing you to focus on producing a complete, accurate, verbatim record.

Requirements

RPR (NCRA) certification or an active state Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license valid in the jurisdiction of assignment.
Minimum 3 years of professional court reporting experience.
Eligibility to pass a federal background investigation for suitability.
U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident seeking citizenship.
For deposition assignments, a Notary Public commission in the jurisdiction of assignment or the ability to obtain one.
Proficiency with stenographic CAT software and reliable professional equipment with redundant backup recording.

Nice To Haves

Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) and/or Registered Merit Reporter (RMR).
Federal court experience.
Realtime certification.

Responsibilities

Produce a complete, accurate, verbatim record of district court proceedings, federal administrative hearings, and depositions.
Deliver certified transcripts within federal turnaround tiers.
Provide realtime output where required.
Maintain exhibit custody and strict confidentiality.
